LEICESTER launch the defence of their Championship title with a trip to league newboys Kent on Tuesday (6.30).
And there’s an air of uncertainty surrounding how riders will perform as several team members from both teams are unfamiliar with the track.
Kent are led by former Leicester hero Scott Nicholls after his move last winter due to the fact that he wanted a mid-week home track.
Leicester hand a debut to classy Australian racer Nick Morris, who enjoyed his laps around the Paul Chapman & Son Arena at Beaumont Park on Saturday.
He said: “It will be great to get going and I don’t know the Kent track like a few of the other guys.
“I’m looking forward to making my debut for Leicester, it was so frustrating to miss out last year when the season was cancelled so I’m raring to go.
“It was good to be with the team on Saturday and we all got on really well, so hopefully we can start the new season with a good result at Kent.”
It’s a big night for former Watling JCB Lions mascots Dan and Joe Thompson who are handed their big Championship chance at reserve.
Racing returns to the Paul Chapman and Sons Arena on Wednesday night when the National League side face Eastbourne – tickets for this and the Watling JCB Lions clash with Edinburgh on Saturday are available until midday on the day of the meeting via the club’s website.
